March to June and September to November are the finest months to visit Pathivara. The temple is located in the Taplejung district eastern hills of Nepal. At a height of 3658 meters above sea level. The hike to Pathivara continues with a beautiful waterfall at Sawa, a pond, and a spectacular Kanchenjunga Mountain panorama.

According to legend , a long time ago a herder lost all of his sheeps in the same place where now the temple is located. Some time after the herder was dreaming and in the dream the goddess asked to make ritual sacrifice of sheep and build a shrine in honor of the Goddess. Sacrifice was offered and shrine was built and suddenly all lost sheep were appeared in the site.
