Tamang Heritage Trail

The Tamang Heritage Trail offers some of the most stunning scenery in the country, including verdant farmland, dense forests, and the peaks of the Langtang Himalayas, as well as the opportunity to trek past Tamang communities.

Several hundred years ago, the Tamang people arrived from Tibet as horse dealers and settled in hilly portions of Nepal (typically around the Kathmandu Valley). They have kept their separate identity, with Tibetan roots and their own language. They have long been one of Nepal’s most neglected ethnic groups.

The Tamang Heritage Trail (extended adventure) can be paired with the Langtang Valley trek and the more difficult Gosainkund trek in this area. Trekking to Gosainkunda will add three days to the route.
